About Us

A Family Owned Business For 3 Generations!

Family owned businesses have been an American tradition since our country's founding. Babe's hardware stores, started by Babe Dalton in 1967 carries on that tradition. Babe's stores have been owned and operated by the Dalton family for over 48 years.

Babe and Pat Dalton worked long hard hours in founding Babe's Hardware Store. They paved the way for Mike and Nancy Dalton to continue running Babe's in the customer friendly, service oriented fashion for which Babe's is famous.

At Babe's we specialize in stocking hard to find items not found in the "Big Box" stores. If you don't see it, we can get it for you. Our staff is trained and can offer expert advice as well as showing you in the store how to do home fix-it projects such as how to replace a Moen faucet cartridge. It's our goal to serve you in the style to which you've become accustomed at Babe's and most of all, to make Babe proud!

Current owner/operators are Mike and Nancy Dalton. Son Derrick Dalton acts as the store manager and daughter Kimberly Dalton is the cheerful office manager.

The Daltons are happy that you've found our website and invite you to investigate the opportunity for premium service in Hardware, Home Fix-It Projects, Building Advice, Paint Color Matching, Key making, Glass/Plexiglas Cutting, and much, much more!

Mike Dalton

Mike Dalton has worked in the Family Owned business since graduating Venice High School in 1977. Mike was raised in the Venice area and has seen Venice really grow up.

Mike has worked very hard to make Babe's the premium hardware store in the area. Because of this, Babe's can handle most of our customer's needs. With the buying power of Ace Hardware, Babe's has lots of resources to use.

It's not unusual for Mike to hear from customers, "I wish I would have come here first!" There is a lot of stuff in this 5500 square foot store.

If customers value their time, they always figure out why the Babe's motto is:

"We Save You Time...And That's Money!"

Nancy Dalton

Nancy Dalton was born and raised in Venice Florida. She married Mike in 1980. Nancy has worked in the Venice Babe's for over twenty years. You will usually find Nancy at the check-out register, or she will be showing customers where things are.

Nancy says, "Our customers are so nice and have become a part of our extended family". I always try to share a good word and a smile with all who come in.

Thank you for shopping in our store. We greatly appreciate your business.

Derrick Dalton

As with both of his parents, Derrick Dalton was born and raised in Venice. Like his father Mike, he worked in the plumbing field for a few summers and after graduating High School, he continued working in plumbing for a few years.

He then started working in the Hardware store and learned all aspects of the business in the hardware store. Derrick is now the Venice Store manager. His specialty is the Paint Department. He has an excellent eye for color matching. When most of our professional painting customers come in they say that he is the "best in the business"!

Kim Dalton

Kim Dalton was born and raised in Venice as well. She always tells customers that she was "Born down in Isle 3".

Kim says, "I have worked in the store for a long time. I don't want to put a date on it because I will probably get my dad in trouble with "child labor" laws.

Kim knows all aspects of the store including bookkeeping. "I have done it all" she says with a smile.

Kim is the Babe's office manager.

Eddie Dinka

Eddie has lived in Venice almost his whole life. He is the Venice Store assistant manager and is very knowledgable with all departments in the entire store.

After graduating High School, he attended the University Of Florida.

Eddie has worked in the construction field and at Home Depot in the past..

He has a son and a stepson as well.

His hobbies include playing softball and watching baseball and football, but his most favorite hobby is watching his son play baseball.
